Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can occur as a complication of a hospital admission or in the general population as a result of trauma or secondary to existing conditions and has serious short and long term consequences. It is important that health care professionals are able to recognise those at risk of developing DVT , understand the principles underpinning the management of DVT and how to prevent the complications associated with it. We have therefore developed a course for hospital staff that addresses these issues.
